South Jersey Transportation Authority
New York Ave. Parking Facility, Atlantic City, New Jersey.
DESCRIPTION & SCOPE
TPD ARCHITECTS, LLC was asked to develop a design study to improve the aesthetics and safety of SJTA’s New York Avenue Parking Facility located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. SJTA expressed a desire to have architectural improvements performed for the front and side facades of the existing 228,862 SF six story post tension concrete parking structure. In addition to the aesthetics and safety features incorporated into the design, improved visibility, garage restoration, increased parking revenue and neighborhood redevelopment were important design considerations. At a cost of 1.5 million dollars, the project scope included surveying and evaluation, architectural, structural, lighting design, a new entrance canopy and new signage. A colored, rendered report was developed which identified the existing deficiencies, developed an estimate for the cost of construction and recommended design solutions needed. TPD ARCHITECTS, LLC was responsible for developing the project scope, building design, signage, streetscape design, Architectural and Structural design & documentation, construction administration and owner representation. This project is a small example of SJTA's commitment to Atlantic City's Urban Renewal and rebirth.
